Japan Coal Plant Tracker
The Japan Coal Plat Tracker has listed all projects we checked in 2012, and is based on various information publically available, such as the official documents, press release, media articles, official Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) information and others.
This list contains a plant that started its operation and some were defeated since 2012.
Currently, proposed new coal power plants we grasp are 44 units, 20.55GW in total. If all plants are built, 120,668 million tons of CO2 will be emitted annually.
Since 2012, one unit (278MW) started its operation and 3 units (2,200MW) were defeated among all plans. The list show all projects plan (49 units, 23.02GW) including units that status have been changed.
- Color of each icon on the map:
- On operation...Red
- Under construction...Orange
- Process on EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment)...Yellow
- Planning...Black (including unfixed future plan)
- Defeated or Stopped operation...Green
How to use:
・When you click the icon on the map, project general information comes out.
To see further detail, please click again on the name of project.
・All tracking new projects is listed on the "List of Plans". To see more details concerning a plant, click on its name.
・Sorting works on the capacity, planning operation date, status, with/without assessment, and technology type. Bring a cursor and click on each index text.
・If you need to download plants data, click [CSV] bottom on the bottom.
・Some uncertainties may remain on particular plant data due to lack of information though those data are carefully reviewed through published information. When you use these data for your reference, please note our site name 【Kiko Network, Japan Coal Plant Tracker】.
